Sennheiser HD650第一次購入是在剛踏入耳機界的時後，當時只憑著它頗受好評這點，就決定買來一用。 不幸地，HD650的聲音並沒有想像中出色，和同時在手中的LCD-2比對後，便將HD650脫手，改換HD600來試聽看看（雖說後來HD600也持有沒多久）。 可能是因為太快下結論，或沒有良好的前端可以駕馭，這負面的經驗導致後來幾年都不再多看HD650一眼。 直到最近再度購入HD600使用，又不禁想著在現今的配備下，是否能反轉對HD650的印象，在這好奇心鼓動之下，不久後這支HD650就出現在桌前。
